One Line Collective Group Gallery Exhibit

Basic Submission Information

The One Line Collective show will open in Chicago in the Spring of 2004. It will feature works based on the theme of a book of poems called (love open hand), which is published on this Website. The collection contains 38 extremely short poems - each poem is just a handful of words. An artist must choose one poem and create work based on that "one-line poem". More than one artist can do the same poem, and more than one piece may be submitted.

We will only be considering work that follows this theme. Pre-existing work that does not connect with any of the poems in the (love open hand) collection will NOT be reviewed.

It is preferred that the poem's text appear somewhere in the piece, but we will consider work that either uses the poem just as the title of the piece, or is only inspired by the poem. Typographical interpretations are also welcome, meaning the text of the poem without a "graphic" per se.

There is a separate call for bookbinders and paper artists or anyone who wishes to bind the collection as an original work of book-sculpture.

Mediums

We will be accepting all art mediums with the exception of music, live performance or video. We are already slated to show a wide variety of mediums that include installations, oil paintings, textiles, pottery, glass sculptures, graphic design posters, and digital work.

Submitting

Works can be submitted for selection to the show via email or slides through regular mail. Works in progress or concepts for installations will also be accepted. If the work isn’t shown in The One-Line Collective exhibit, you are always welcome to sell the piece elsewhere at any time - it's your artwork. The (love open hand) collection has been dedicated to the public domain.

Also feel free to check out the Participating Artists' Page.

All work (including works in progress) must be emailed or received by January 15, 2004.
